The adventure of learning is yours to share!
My grandfather was a Congressman of the United States government in the 60s. From stories relayed to me over the years, my roots lie in a rich tradition of Italian American immigrants who came to this country in search of a better life through education and hard work. Members of my family became teachers, lawyers, doctors, judges, all with the underlying foundation that they would pay back this great opportunity through knowledge, public service and acts that make a difference in the lives of others. As I too have entered the realm of public service, this sentiment is not lost on me. A valuable tradition that lends a hand to not just being in this world, but leaving it better than before you came. A tradition that encourages reading to expand your conscious awareness of the universe and its actors. A tradition that infuses meaning in the small acts of kindness as you connect with others on a daily basis. And a tradition where your love of learning and perseverance follows you throughout your days. That love of learning that will take you to new places, will allow you to discover new cultures, and will have you living your life outside the “figurative” box. You will never be stuck in life as long as you don’t limit what self-actualization looks like to you. Be creative. Draw and design your own vision of how you wish to see the world and then get busy making it happen. Build on a hearty tradition of education and hard work. For the opportunity is yours, keep the door open to learning and in an act of service invite others to join you. Then the adventure will always be yours to share.
